Heart valve disease is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases worldwide, and the application of interventional treatment technology in recent years has made significant progress in the treatment of heart valve disease. Currently, Xiamen Heart Hospital regularly performs various valve interventional surgeries, ranking among the top in terms of technical difficulty and surgical volume in China. It has been approved as one of the first among 12 heart valve disease intervention centers in the country. Meanwhile, Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital is also actively promoting domestic independent innovations and has jointly developed multiple valve intervention devices with manufacturers. It is worth mentioning that the valve intervention device used in this surgery was independently developed in China and has been widely used in Brazil.

Dr. Wang Yan stated that since the establishment of the BRICS Cardiovascular Health Innovation Center last year, Xiamen Heart Hospital has been using the "BRICS" platform to carry out international academic seminars in the field of valve intervention and other cutting-edge technologies to expand horizons and improve discipline standards. The hospital also launched the "Heart Sapling" Visiting Scholar Program to train a group of outstanding young cardiovascular specialists. This project was officially launched at the theme promotion event held at the United Nations headquarters by the China International Development Cooperation Agency, and 15-20 visiting scholars will receive training in Xiamen in the future.
