Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program

Initiated by the BRICS Cardiovascular Health Innovation Center (BCHIC), the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program is a specialized training initiative for international cardiologists. It facilitates the training of foreign cardiovascular specialists in China and reciprocally sends Chinese experts to conduct teaching overseas. Aimed at promoting exchange and collaboration with BRICS countries and 'the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative (GDI)' countries, the program fosters bilateral assistance, develops talents to boost diagnostic and therapeutic skills in cardiovascular health, and contributes to the overall improvement of global cardiovascular wellbeing.

Capitalizing on the excellent medical team and resources of Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University (XMCH), the Heart Sapling Program offers annual study opportunities for mid-career and young cardiologists worldwide. For each visiting scholar, the program tailors a unique training regimen, providing a seasoned physician as a mentor and a junior doctor as a collaborator. Under their mentors' guidance, the visiting scholars undergo comprehensive clinical training in cardiovascular medicine. This experience amplifies their skills in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases, ultimately driving the fusion of theoretical and practical cardiovascular knowledge to benefit a greater number of patients suffering from these conditions.
