A Milestone in Internationalization! Hong Kong and Xiamen Experts Collaborate to Successfully Complete Two Consecutive High-Difficulty Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER) Procedures in Hong Kong

09 March, 2026

Recently, good news came from the operating room of Canossa Hospital in Hong Kong. A joint team led by Professor Lin Yixian and Professor Wong Man Ho from Canossa Hospital, together with President Wang Yan's team and Professor Chen Xiang from Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University, successfully performed two consecutive high-difficulty transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) procedures in Hong Kong. The     procedures utilized the NeoNova® transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair system independently developed by Valgen Medtech. Both patients recovered well postoperatively, with significant improvement in various clinical indicators. This achievement demonstrates the high-level medical capabilities enabled by close collaboration between cardiovascular teams in Hong Kong and Mainland China. It also marks a solid step forward in the internationalization process of domestically developed innovative medical devices entering the global market.

Professor Lin Yixian and Professor Wong Man Ho from Canossa Hospital expressed their appreciation for the success of this collaboration. Professor Lin stated" TEER technology is becoming increasingly widely applied in Hong Kong. This was the first time introducing the domestically developed NeoNova® mitral clip system, and its performance was impressive. Particularly in the second high-risk and complex case, where imaging was limited following a prior TAVR procedure, the operation was successfully completed with ideal results thanks to the precision of the device and effective team collaboration. This fully demonstrates the reliability and applicability of this domestic device." Professor Wong added" The NeoNova® device features a diverse range of specifications that closely align with real clinical needs, enabling personalized treatment for different cases. It is easy to operate and highly safe. We believe this domestic device will play an even greater role in Hong Kong and overseas markets in the future, providing higher-quality treatment options for patients with mitral regurgitation."

Professor Chen Xiang from Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University, commented" The collaboration with the team at Canossa Hospital in Hong Kong was very smooth. Leveraging rich clinical experience and strong teamwork, we successfully overcame two different types of mitral regurgitation cases. The NeoNova® device is well-designed to meet clinical needs, with delivery performance and capture stability reaching internationally advanced levels, providing strong support for performing high-difficulty procedures. This was not only a technical exchange but also an important practice in bringing domestically developed devices to the international stage. We look forward to more cross-regional collaborations in the future so that innovative domestic achievements can benefit more patients."

The successful completion of these international NeoNova® transcatheter mitral clip implantations in Hong Kong represents not only a major benefit for patients with complex mitral regurgitation, but also a vivid example of high-end domestic medical devices stepping onto the global stage and participating in international competition. It has earned recognition for "Made in China" innovation in the global field of cardiovascular intervention.
