From the "Two Sessions" to the Frontline of Medical Innovation: Journalists from 19 Countries Visit Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital

On March 14, coinciding with the conclusion of China's "Two Sessions," 20 foreign journalists from 19 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America—who had come to China to cover the event—visited Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University (Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital). They conducted an on-site exploration of China's innovative practices and international cooperation achievements in the field of cardiovascular medicine.
Accompanied by Wang Yan, a deputy to the National People's Congress and President of Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital, the visiting journalists were also joined by trainees from six countries, including Indonesia, who are currently participating in the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program. These trainees engaged in on-site exchanges and shared their experiences of studying and living in Xiamen.
Smart Healthcare and Innovative Technologies Impress Visiting Journalists
The journalists toured key areas of Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital, including the outpatient department, medical technology examination center, interventional diagnosis and treatment center, and helipad. Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital's innovative practices in AI-powered healthcare applications, the development of a comprehensive emergency response system, as well as its patient-centered design and service philosophy, left a strong impression.

At the outpatient clinic, President Wang Yan demonstrated Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital's AI-powered medical documentation system. The system can recognize doctor–patient conversations in real time and automatically convert patients' verbal descriptions into structured electronic medical records.
Sekar Gandawang, a journalist from Kompas (Indonesia), commented:"This technology frees doctors from the burden of extensive documentation, allowing them to focus more on listening to and understanding patients."
China's Cardiovascular Innovations Draw International Media Attention
At the interventional diagnosis and treatment center, President Wang Yan introduced Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital's achievements in treating complex cardiovascular diseases using internationally advanced interventional techniques combined with domestically developed innovative medical devices, enabling precise and minimally invasive therapies.He also highlighted pioneering explorations carried out by Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital, including the world's first cross-border robot-assisted cardiac interventional procedure.

As artificial intelligence becomes deeply integrated with clinical needs, and as China's medical solutions continue to expand onto the global stage, the journalists gained a firsthand understanding during this in-depth visit: the advancement of China's medical technology is bringing new hope and possibilities to patients worldwide.
"Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program" Builds a Bridge for Medical Exchange
During the exchange session, international physicians participating in the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program shared their experiences and achievements in learning advanced cardiovascular technologies at Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital.
Journalists from countries including Indonesia, India, and the Philippines engaged in in-depth conversations with trainees from their respective nations, gaining insights into their experiences studying cardiovascular interventional techniques in China, as well as their daily learning and living conditions in Xiamen.
Many journalists were impressed by Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital's open and inclusive model of international exchange, noting that such cross-border medical training and collaboration provide an important platform for physicians from different countries to share advanced medical expertise.

Sitaram Mewati, a journalist from The Mumbai Messenger (India), stated after speaking with trainees from his country that he felt proud of their opportunity to receive advanced cardiovascular interventional training at Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital, and expressed hope that more Indian doctors would join the program in the future.

According to reports, over the past three years, Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital has hosted visiting delegations from 121 countries and has attracted patients from more than 50 countries to seek medical treatment.
