Recently, delegations from seven major Indian media outlets, including Time of India, India Today, and The Statesman, visited Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University (referred to as “XMCH”). They conducted in-depth explorations of the hospital’s achievements in medical development and international cooperation, and subsequently published special reports in mainstream Indian newspapers. Journalists from China Media Group Asia-Africa Center, China Daily Asia-Pacific Bureau, Fujian Daily, and Fujian TV Station, as well as Indian doctor Mukesh Jha—currently participating in the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program at XMCH—accompanied the delegation on the visit.
President Wang Yan of XMCH led the delegation on a comprehensive tour of the hospital and gave detailed briefings on the hospital's development strategy, clinical services, discipline building, BRICS cooperation, and internationalization efforts. At locations such as the outpatient hall, medical technology inspection area, Phase II project model, interventional catheterization lab, Heart Sapling Scholar Wall, unaccompanied wards, and the Chest Pain Center, the media representatives frequently paused to take photos and conduct interviews. The Indian guests expressed amazement at the hospital’s world-class medical environment, facilities, service philosophy, academic growth, and global vision. They deeply felt the rapid advancement of China’s healthcare industry and conveyed strong hopes to promote Sino-Indian collaboration in cardiovascular medicine.
During a discussion session, President Wang introduced in detail the hospital’s major achievements in medical-technology innovation and international cooperation. These include conducting the world’s first robot-assisted transcatheter mitral valve repair, developing numerous innovative medical devices, establishing the BRICS Cardiovascular Health Innovation Center, signing a cooperation agreement with Apollo Hospitals in India to promote regular academic exchanges, participating in clinical studies of transcatheter aortic valve products by India’s Meril company, and receiving three Indian doctors to date for training under the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program. The Indian guests highly praised the hospital’s achievements in commercialization and international cooperation, and engaged in enthusiastic discussions and questions on topics such as the transcatheter valve therapy robot and the Heart Sapling Program.
On May 4, The Statesman of India published a special report titled “Xiamen’s Robotic Heart Innovation: A Gamechanger in Cardiovascular Medicine”, highlighting terms like “internationally leading” and “globally influential” to describe the hospital’s development, its advanced valve surgery robot system, and the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program.
