Academic Exchange | Italian Cardiovascular Expert Professor Livio Giuliani visited Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital

Recently, Professor Livio Giuliani, a cardiovascular expert from San Salvatore Hospital in Italy, visited Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University (referred to as "XMCH") to attend the 2025 PADN Master Class and engage in a series of academic exchanges.

 In the early morning of the visit, Professor Livio and his team were invited to attend XMCH's routine Morning Meeting. Dr. Wang Yan, President of the hospital, first delivered a welcoming speech to Professor Livio and his team. Subsequently, Professor Livio gave a presentation titled "Current Challenges and Unmet Needs in the European Pulmonary Hypertension Population: The Potential Role of PADN," sharing with the hospital staff the current treatment approaches and future prospects in the field of pulmonary hypertension in Italy. Following this, Director Chen Xiang from XMCH delivered a lecture titled "(PADN) Operating Procedure: Step by Step, providing a detailed introduction to the surgical procedures and key considerations for Pulmonary Artery Denervation (PADN). Professor Wang Yan and the XMCH team listened attentively and engaged in lively discussions. Professor Livio's team highly praised and recognized the learning model of XMCH's Morning Meetings.

After the Morning Meeting, Professor Livio's team visited the interventional catheterization laboratory of XMCH to observe three PADN procedures performed by Professor Wang Yan's team. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as surgical indications, timing, procedural techniques, and postoperative management. Professor Livio expressed that he was deeply impressed by the hospital’s world-class medical facilities, diagnostic and treatment concepts, and technological innovations. He also expressed hope to introduce and promote the application of the original Chinese PADN technology in Italy.

 During this exchange, Chinese and Italian clinical experts conducted extensive discussions and mutual learning around core topics such as the clinical application of innovative cardiovascular technologies, surgical standards, and technical pathways, laying a solid foundation for further cooperation between the two sides
