CIDCA Announces | XMCH will Recruit 50 Scholars for the Heart Sapling Program

On September 7, the Dialogue on Global Development Initiative (GDI) , organized by Global Development Promotion Center of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal People's Government, and China (Xiamen) International Investment Promotion Center, was successfully held in Xiamen. Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University (XMCH) was invited, and Director Wang Yan presented the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program, highlighting XMCH's efforts in global talent exchange and innovation under the GDI framework.

The event focused on "Cultivate New Growth Momentum for Shared Global Development". CIDCA and Xiamen municipal leaders, diplomats, international organization representatives, and foreign embassies attended the event.

During the event, CIDCA announced that XMCH would recruit 50 scholars from the "Group of Friends of the GDI" countries for the Heart Sapling Program over the next three years to promote the global health community.


Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program

Launched in late 2022, the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program invites young cardiovascular physicians globally to train at XMCH, aiming to foster top cardiovascular talent and improve global cardiovascular care. In April 2023, the program was officially introduced at the GDI High-Level Thematic Event at the UN Headquarters and was later included in the Global Development Project Pool by CIDCA. And it was also listed it in the "Deliverables for a Shared Future Actions Plan (50 items) ——Deliverables of the second high-level conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development". To date, XMCH has welcomed 13 scholars from 7 countries for training.

Guest Visits to XMCH

Following the GDI Dialogue, foreign diplomats and guests visited XMCH to learn more about the Heart Sapling Program. They interacted with visiting scholars and praised XMCH for its advanced technology, international facilities, and contributions to global health.
