Professor Oleg Rummo, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, has been Appointed as an Overseas Distinguished Physician at XMCH

Recently, Professor Oleg Rummo, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Director of the Minsk Surgical, Transplantation, and Hematology Science Practice Center (MSTH), was invited to Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University(XMCH). He was appointed as an overseas distinguished physician and signed a cooperation memorandum with XMCH on behalf of MSTH.
Professor Oleg Rummo toured various facilities at XMCH including outpatient clinics, interventional treatment centers, chest pain centers, and helicopter pads. He held discussions with clinical experts such as Director Wang Yan and Vice Director Wu Xijie.
During the discussions, Professor Oleg Rummo introduced the basic operations of MSTH and its activities in cardiovascular and organ transplantation fields. Director Wang Yan presented an overview of XMCH, its discipline construction, cardiovascular intervention, and surgical practices, as well as progress in international exchanges and cooperation. Professor Oleg Rummo highly praised the hardware and software facilities of XMCH and its outstanding achievements in cardiovascular treatment. He expressed the desire for both sides to deepen exchanges and collaborate in clinical and research fields, including organ transplantation.
Following their discussions, Director Wang Yan and Professor Oleg Rummo signed a memorandum of cooperation on behalf of their respective institutions. The agreement aims to comprehensively collaborate on organ transplantation, clinical research, talent cultivation, international exchanges, and technology transfer, contributing to the development of health care in China and Belarus.
In September 2023, under the recommendation of Mr. Andreev Andrei, Consul General of Belarus in Shanghai, XMCH established initial contact with MSTH. After several rounds of online communication, both parties expressed their intention to strengthen cooperation in research and clinical practices. Professor Oleg Rummo was invited to Xiamen as part of the "2024 Xiamen Talent Service Month" and officially signed the Academy Experts Project contract with Director Wang Yan during the launch ceremony.

Minsk Surgical, Transplantation, and Hematology Science Practice Center
The Minsk Surgical, Transplantation, and Hematology Science Practice Center is a national-level medical institution in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. It specializes in clinical diagnosis, treatment, and research in surgical, transplantation, and hematology fields. The center is Belarus's only multidisciplinary scientific and medical center, comprising 11 clinical departments and 61 departments. Since 2008, the center has conducted over 3,000 organ transplants, making it one of Eastern Europe's largest organ transplantation centers. It ranks among the world leaders in organ donation and transplantation.
Professor Oleg Rummo
Professor Oleg Rummo is a Medical Doctor, Professor of Surgery, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus. He currently serves as the Director of the Minsk Surgical, Transplantation, and Hematology Science Practice Center and a Senator of the Republic Council of the Belarusian Parliament. He is also a board member of the Belarusian Association of Surgeons, Vice President of the CIS Countries Hepatobiliary Surgeons Association, and a member of the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (EAHPBA) and the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT). In Belarus, he leads the national organ transplantation program and has made significant contributions to treating end-stage liver, kidney, and hematopoietic system diseases. He performed unique surgeries for liver, bile duct, and pancreatic tumors for the first time in Belarusian history.
