Cardiac Surgery

The Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital Xiamen University (also known as Xiamen Heart Center) Cardiovascular Surgery department is a leading center in Fujian Province even in China. We provides quality care for complex and serious conditions that affect people of all ages. Our team consists of cardiac surgeons, pediatric cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionist, radiologists, cardiologists, ICU doctors, nurses(including clinical nurse specialist). We provide over 100 beds and 25 ICU beds. Each year our team performed more than 2000 surgery, include acute Stanford A and Stanford B aortic dissection, DAVID procedure, Right Thoracotomy mini Bentall, mid-CABG, TAVI, total thoracoscopic valve repair and replacement, complex congenital heart disease, heart transplantation and interventional operation, ranking No.2 in Fujian Province. We are recognized as the Provincial Key Disciplines，and attracted lots of patients from other regions and provinces. We are achieved high reputation in our region and nationally.

Minimally invasive coronary surgery

Minimally invasive coronary surgery(Mid-CBAG) and Hybrids Coronary CenterWe are the first and only center that can indecently and routinely perform minimally invasive coronary surgery(Mid-CBAG) in Fujian Province. We also have Hybrids Coronary revascularization for complex coronary heart disease patients. All these methods allows us to provide individualized and precision treatment for each patients，meanwhile helps enhance patient recovery and minimized pain, trauma and wound.

Aortic Center

Our Aortic Center is a premier center for diagnosing and treating people with serious and complex aortic disease. Each year, our center treats nearly 400 adults with aortic dissection, aortic aneurysm, aortic trauma, familial aortic disorders, infectious aortic disorders, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, Marfan syndrome. Our center is open 24hours. We built a 4-hours Aortic Disease Collaborative Network, once a patient is diagnosed acute aortic dissection, we started the emergence program, and provide a green channel to OR. The best time（record）is 4 hours from onset to operation. Each year, we treated over 150 type A dissection and 300 type B dissections.We still keep the lowest mortality in Acute Type A aortic dissection, which is of less than 3%.

Aortic root surgery

We also perform DAVID procedure in acute aortic dissection patients, to free them from life-long anticoagulation drugs. We use single branch stent, multiple branches stent, fenestration technic and in situ fenestration technic to treat non-A-non-B dissection and complex type B dissection.

Minimally invasive cardiac surgery,MICS

We use upper hemi-sternotomy, inferior partial median sternotomy，right mini- thoracotomy incisions, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and right axillary minithoracotomy to perform valve repair or replacement, Bentall procedure, congenital heart disease and tumorectomy.

Congenital heart center

We have a hybrid congenital heart center. We are capable to rescue neonates and low body weight babies. Atrial and ventricular septal defect can be fixed in right axillary way to avoid scars in the median chest and keep the thorax integrity.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension diagnosis and treatment center

Our pulmonary arterial hypertension diagnosis and treatment center served as a region center, which include diagnosis, assessment and classification, drug therapy, operation, rehabilitation. We can perform right cardiac catheterization, pulmonary endarterectomy(PEA) and Balloon dilation of the pulmonary artery.

Biographical Summary
Wang Yan, Director of Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital of Xiamen University, Ph.D of the University of Hong Kong, Professor, Chief physician, Doctoral supervisor. Prof. Wang specializes in interventional treatment of complex coronary and peripheral artery diseases. As the leader of structural heart team, he has engaged in the clinical application of kinds of advanced interventional technology and device research, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR), transcatheter edge to edge repair (TEER) of mitral valve and tricuspid valve, atrial septal shunt, Revivent TC system for Left ventricular aneurysm. He has obtained a total of 13 projects under National Natural Science Foundation, Key Research and Development Projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and kinds of provincial/municipal projects, with a total funding of about 74 million yuan. 112 papers are published as the first author or corresponding author, in which 45 papers are included in SCI.
